My selected opportunity was the lack of gym space at the University of Florida. I'm excited to have the opportunity to write about potential solutions to this problem. 1. Build more gym space One of my friends works at Southwest Recreation Center, the main gym at this school. One of the things he told me was that out of all of the SEC schools, UF ranks last in the weight room space that it has available to its students, by a large margin. To me, this is unacceptable. The school should build another gym - by allowing the students to be split up between two primary locations instead of just one, the weight room would be a much more efficient and enjoyable experience. 2. Redesign the current interior layout of Southwest Recreation Center As it currently stands, Southwest Recreation Center is a huge, impressive building, but for some reason, it only has a small area dedicated to weights in the very back of the building.
