18A – Create a Customer Avatar

Image
Customer Avatar I view the typical customer of mine as someone who has a passion for keeping their body and mind in optimal shape. Customers of mine focus on their physical and mental health, and have great work life balances. I view the prototypical customer as also being someone that has great time management skills. The customers, since my product is focused around the University of Florida, are typically around 20 years old, and are currently either enjoying their college experience or navigating post-graduation life. These customers are always looking for ways to improve the efficiency of their routines. Reflection What I have in common with the customer avatar is good time management. I believe I've identified ways for myself to obtain my goals both in the gym and in my academic life. I don't think this similarity is a coincidence, as I believe people with similar interests tend to develop similar habits or mannerisms.

16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?

Unique human capital includes: - Self awareness - Creative - Realistic - Social skills - Intelligence Interview 1 In one interview I was told that one thing that made me different was my self awareness. In entrepreneurship self awareness is a key characteristic, as it allows you to understand yourself relative to other people. Interview 2 I was told in this interview that I was creative. Creativity is an important part of entrepreneurship as it allows you to think of things that other people wouldn't. Interview 3 In another interview I was told that I was realistic. What the interviewee thought was good about this quality was that it allows you to not be overly optimistic and waste your time on ideas that won't ultimately come to fruition. Interview 4 Another interviewee said that my social skills were good. In entrepreneurship, this is an important skill as it allows you to get on the good side of other people. If you were to annoy people and not be sharp ...

15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

Findings I was able to identify a few alternatives from the interviews I conducted. Based on the unmet need I described, the people I interviewed thought about rearranging the current gym layout, rather than building a whole new facility. As far as funding the solution goes, this method would be much more cost efficient. The people I interviewed also brought up the idea of gym reservations. This would allow students to schedule a time frame that they would go the gym, which would solve the problem of over population. While this is also more cost effective than the proposed idea of building a new facility, the downside with this method is that it provides students with a large lack of flexibility when it comes to when they get their exercise in. Conclusions Based on my interviews, I found a few different solutions to my unmet need, but still largely lean towards the idea I originally proposed. While my initial idea was one of the more expensive options, It solves the most pro...

14A – Halfway Reflection

Image
In order to keep up with the requirements of this course, I've had to have good time management, diligence, and an attention to detail As a result of the hurricane earlier this semester pushing a lot of deadlines back, there were a few weeks in the beginning of this course where we had multiple assignments, more than usual, due at once. It was tough as it required a considerable portion of time to complete all of them. However, through the lectures and course material, it was easy to develop the habits to complete the assignments successfully. If I had to give three tips to next semesters students, I would tell them to 1) Think creatively and outside of the box about all of their assignment submissions 2) Strive to deliver the best work product possible on a weekly basis and 3) Don't be intimidated by anything Overall, entrepreneurship has been a great course that I would recommend to classmates.

13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

For the following reading reflection, I read Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future  What surprised me the most was how many different successful business ventures Musk was able to establish and run simultaneously. I admired his ability to multi task and his unique viewpoints. It seemed that every now and then Musk had too much faith in some of his ideas. Musk encountered his fair share of adversity, and diligently worked through it The entrepreneur exhibited many admirable qualities. Throughout the incredibly difficult processes of starting Tesla and SpaceX, Musk never gave up and worked tirelessly to see his vision through. Despite all of this, one thing about the reading that was confusing to me was how some of Musk's other ventures never shaped up to being as successful as Tesla and SpaceX. If I could ask two questions, I would ask 1) What's your current opinion on the state of technology when it comes to the threat of a singularity and 2) Which ...

12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Segment The segment I picked was students who frequently use exercise facilities at the university. Summarization of interviews  Based on the feedback I got from the interviews, I learned a lot about the awareness of the people in this segment. The people I interviewed said that they usually look for gym alternatives during the most busy hours of the day, around 5pm. They said that their need typically becomes most salient when their day has a busy schedule that only permits for a quick workout, which is almost an impossible feat with how busy the student gym always is. I was typically told during these interviews that in order to find a solution to this need, individuals would go to the gym during abnormal hours to avoid large crowds. I was also told that people use Google to search for alternative gyms. However, I've been told that the people doing these searches have been unsuccessful due to the high rates alternative gyms charge in this area. Conclusions Based on t...
