13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

For the following reading reflection, I read Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future

What surprised me the most was how many different successful business ventures Musk was able to establish and run simultaneously. I admired his ability to multi task and his unique viewpoints. It seemed that every now and then Musk had too much faith in some of his ideas. Musk encountered his fair share of adversity, and diligently worked through it

The entrepreneur exhibited many admirable qualities. Throughout the incredibly difficult processes of starting Tesla and SpaceX, Musk never gave up and worked tirelessly to see his vision through. Despite all of this, one thing about the reading that was confusing to me was how some of Musk's other ventures never shaped up to being as successful as Tesla and SpaceX. If I could ask two questions, I would ask 1) What's your current opinion on the state of technology when it comes to the threat of a singularity and 2) Which ventured do you like more, Tesla or SpaceX. If I would have to guess what Elon's opinion of hard work was, I would imagine he would say it's more important to work smarter rather than harder.

  1. Hey Michael,
Elon Musk is an extremely interesting man and I am sure that reading about him was entertaining to say the least. I can only imagine how much adversity Elon had to overcome in his lifetime. It is quite inspiring to read the stories of successful entrepreneurs and see all the obstacles they had to go through to get where they are today. I would love to have a conversation with Elon Musk just to see what is going through his head and how he views the world.

  2. Hi Michael, it is crazy to try to think about all of the work someone has done and try to reflect on it. I believe you answered all of the required questions and delivered a great response. It is interesting that you asked the question about technology. I would love to hear Elon Musk response to that question because technology has changed and will continue to change. Thanks for sharing Michael, Good job!
