11A – Idea Napkin No. 1
1. You
I am a student at the University of Florida studying finance. I aspire to find myself in a full time position in finance that has a good work life balance. I think my business idea is bigger than the role it would play in my life
2. What are you offering to customers?
I am pitching for an additional gym to be opened up in Gainesville for University of Florida students. This service will solve customers unmet needs as it will provide for less crowded gym spaces.
3. Who are you offering it to
I am offering this product to the students at the school. I believe the product is bet fit for students with a health oriented lifestyle that frequently utilize the currently available gym facilities. All of my customers have in common the desire to workout in a non crowded gym space
4. Why do they care?
Customers will pay money to use my service as it will be viewed as a middle ground between the crowded, free student gym and the very expensive, high quality Gainesville Health and Fitness facility. This will meet consumers needs in two ways - it will reduce how crowded the facility is, and offer cheap fees
5. What are your core competencies?
The highlight feature of the facility is that it will be less crowded than others. Also, I think location could be a selling point. Currently, most of the student gyms are far away from where the students actually live. This gym would be located close to where students actually live.
I believe these five elements fit together in a way that would produce a cohesive product. I think one part of my business concept that might be out-of-joint with the others are the start up costs associated.

Hey Michael!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a concise but thorough job of explaining the outline of your idea. I agree that your plan to open another gym would definitely impact the lives of a lot more people than just yourself. The middle ground between the free super crowded gym and the other expensive gym memberships in Gainesville is something that needs to be reached and your idea seems to achieve that.
Hey Michael,
ReplyDeleteThe idea of adding more gym space to the University of Florida is a great idea and would solve a problem that many students have struggled with. The lack of gym space can be very annoying and can make working out a pain. If a good location could be found, the new gym space would attract many customers as well as help the other gyms to become less crowded and thus solving the problem.
Hey Michael,
ReplyDeleteI agree that customers would pay money for this service. With southwest being so crowded, and the other gyms in Gainesville either being small or unaffordable, I think this gym is a great Idea and I'd certainly get a membership! However, I do think its important to factor in the actual expense of building the gym, and how much you would charge on a monthly basis.
